The New Kid:
In Boondock Saints 2 you meet Romeo who is played by Clifton Collins Jr. He joins the brothers in the next chapter of their adventure, He’s the New Kid.
What I mean by being the new kid is just that. He’s new to group. He wasn’t around at the start and pretty much stumbles upon the brothers. His entrance into the brothers’ world is a pretty kick ass one.(Always bet on the Mexican.) He impresses from the start.
Even though Romeo can hold his own, he always feels he needs to prove that he belongs. (I would have shoved that .22 up Connors’s ass.) He is also less impulsive then Rocco.Because of this he doesn’t land is such odd situations. He also seems to share Connor’s love of plans based off of bad 70’s movies. (That one scene still reminded me of Shaft.)
Romeo does tend to get defensive when his manhood is questioned. This goes back to the fact that he’s new to the situation. He doesn’t want to show the brothers that he is any less than a man. This doesn’t mean he isn’t comfortable with himself. I think out of almost the whole gang, Romeo is the most accepting of himself. He’s proud of his culture to the point of driving a Margaritaville car and use guns with the Mexican flag. He is less comfortable with the fact that he cries, when he gets emotional. (Usually proud moments.)
He is able to laugh at himself and to accept unusual situations. (Didn’t bat an eye, when Doc said they called him Fuck Ass.) That is his second strongest point. The ability to adapt to the craziest things and accept it without question.
His strongest point is his strong feelings for family. You see this when he talks to his uncle. He is very respectful and wishes to bring honor in the eyes of his family. The brothers also become family to him. Not blood, but just as important to him. As long as they need his help, he’ll be there for them, and vice-versa.
With Romeo we learn that just because they’re the New Kid doesn’t mean they should be discounted or dismissed, or he might just find a loophole and stomp your ass
