What Defines a Celebrity to Me…

This thought has been rattling in my brain since Con-Tamination last year. During the Q&A Sean Patrick Flanery stated that he didn’t think of himself as a celebrity. Since he started having more of a presence on Twitter, the thought has been more persistent.

When most people think of a celebrity, they think of those actors that parade on the red carpet from what ever mysterious location they stay between shows and movies. They seem separate from the rest of us. There are those that seem to cause or just land into trouble, be it because of selfishness or just plain stupidity. I’m not interested in those types of celebrities.

These three men that are posted: Norman Reedus, David Della Rocco, and Sean Patrick Flanery are MY type of celebrities. TAKE NOTE HOLLYWOOD!!!

First off these men are talented at acting. They can take a crappy movie and at least make it more entertaining. (SyFy movie anyone?) Also they don’t let being an actor go to their heads. It’s a job. It’s just a job that everyone happens to see. These men understand that. They keep themselves grounded in reality. They are sons, brothers, uncles, fathers, husbands, and lovers. They get this. They don’t need nor want attention to be focused on anything other than their work and that’s how it should be.

I don’t want to know who’s dating who or what stupid move they might make. They’re human. Mistakes are bound to happen. So, tabloids should just back off! If you did then maybe we’d get more actual actors like these three instead of attention whores like Paris Hilton. (Best part of the new House of Wax was when she died.)

They also understand that the rest of us are the reason that they are able to do what they love. They are kind, wonderful giving men, who always know when a kid is around and try to curb their swearing. They go and take time out of their busy life to meet the fans that are willing to watch them play pretend. They say “Thank you” to the fans. (Seriously, when was the last time you ever heard Tom Cruise or Charlie Sheen say thank you.) They also give back to the community and charities, and inspire their fans to help out also.

So, I don’t know or care of anyone else thinks what a celebrity is. These men are celebrities to me….and if you disagree… so what…
